Debi Hart

Debi Hart is a seasoned international business leader with over 20 years of experience in transforming complex global operations into streamlined, high-performing systems. Currently, she is responsible for Market Research products at Forsta, leveraging her extensive knowledge to shape innovative research solutions for Forsta and Press Ganey customers. Debi’s expertise spans technology, market research, direct marketing, and online business development, honed through varied roles across the USA, Europe, and the Asia Pacific. We sat down with Debi to discuss the future of research, the importance of self-development, finding and using your voice, and more!

Debi is a strong proponent of understanding both oneself and one's team on a deeper level. “To me, leadership is about clearing the path for your team so they can achieve their goals with confidence and creativity,” she shared. “It’s about providing opportunities for growth and learning, and being there to guide them through challenges. Recognizing each individual’s strengths is crucial, and as a leader, it’s my job to help them maximize those strengths while supporting them in areas where they need improvement.” While focusing on maximizing her team's strengths is central to her leadership style, she also prioritizes her own growth as a leader. “Reading is an essential component of my self-development journey,” she offered. “It continuously provides me with new perspectives, deepens my understanding, and enhances my ability to make informed decisions. The knowledge and inspiration I gain from books contribute significantly to both my professional growth and personal enrichment.”

Debi’s professional hallmark is her focus on the significance of data, aligning with Forsta’s motto, “behind every data point is a person,” which she deeply values. She states, “My experience in the research and software sectors has underscored the importance of data in making informed decisions.” By utilizing data, she feels more confident in balancing her experience, instincts, and concrete insights to make optimal decisions for her team, herself, and the organization. This method has consistently led her to achieve shared goals with integrity and precision. Currently, her work at Forsta includes innovating legacy, impactful products like Forsta Surveys (Decipher) and Forsta Visualizations (Dapresy). “Our team is dedicated to equipping the next generation of researchers with advanced tools, reaffirming our status as leaders in data collection and visualization. I am immensely proud of the transformative work our team is undertaking to ensure that these solutions remain the gold standard in Market Research.”

The book "Magic Words" by Jonah Berger provides intriguing insights into the influence of word choice and its impact on making a difference. It has been a source of inspiration for Debi, who strongly advocates for using your own "magic words" to achieve your professional and personal goals. She advises women in Market Research aspiring to leadership or entrepreneurial roles to have confidence in their abilities and recognize their potential to achieve more than they might think. "It's crucial to put yourself out there, promote your skills, and seek support from your network," she shared with our readers. "We often hesitate to ask for advice or assistance, fearing we might be imposing, but you'll find that your network is more than willing to help."

Both Debi and Forsta have been huge advocates of WIRe since Day 1; Debi attends local and conference-based WIRe events and completed the WIRe Accelerate professional development program. She’s been a WIRe mentor for five years and finds the program incredibly rewarding both for younger mentees and mentors alike, describing the program as, “a mutual learning experience.” Forsta is a WIRe Corporate Donor and Debi acts as a liaison between the company and organization to bring more researchers into the WIRe fold. “The network and support provided by WIRe are exceptional, making it an indispensable resource for professional development and community engagement.” To this end, she urges researchers to leverage the WIRe community in their own professional development journey. “Engaging with organizations like WIRe is invaluable;” she shares. “...the connections and experiences shared at WIRe events can be instrumental in your journey towards leadership. Utilize this community to its fullest potential and let them support you along the way.”
