Code of Conduct

Last updated: 8 Sept, 2026

Our Community
Wire is a global, donor-supported community of more than 23,000 professionals working across data, insights, analytics, CX, and UX. We were built on a simple belief: there's room at the table for everyone. Wire exists to help our members connect, learn, and advance in their careers through collaboration rather than competition. That belief only works if our spaces are safe ones. This Code of Conduct sets out the standard of behavior we expect from every member, volunteer, board member, sponsor, speaker, and guest across all Wire spaces — our events, summits, webinars, courses, online community and messaging platforms, social media groups, and any setting in which people are participating as part of the Wire community.

This Code is a condition of participation, not a form to sign. By accessing or using any Wire online platform, community forum, or social media page, or by attending or participating in any Wire in-person or virtual event, you agree to be bound by this Code of Conduct. No individual signature is required —participation in Wire is acceptance.

The Principles That Guide Us
Everything we ask of our members in this Code of Conduct is an extension of the principles Wire was founded on:

Be Useful — We show up as a genuine resource for one another, driving real outcomes through meaningful dialogue.

Create Community — We believe there's room at the table for everyone, and we choose collaboration over competition.

Advocate for Our Audience — We create opportunities for women and underrepresented groups to do more of what they love and to be seen.

Partner Purposefully — We choose our alliances carefully, prioritizing long-term investment in our community over surface-level gestures.

Think Globally, Act Locally — We connect professionals across the world while lifting up members from under-resourced and conflict-affected regions.

Expected Behavior
All Wire community members are expected to:

• Treat other members with respect, professionalism, and good faith, regardless of their title, tenure, company, background, or point of view.
• Engage in honest, direct disagreement about ideas and work without attacking the person behind them.
• Give and receive feedback constructively, and raise concerns directly with the person involved or with Wire staff rather than through gossip or exclusion.
• Support other members' visibility and success rather than undermining it.
• Respect differences in identity, background, career stage, and opinion.
• Speak up, respectfully, if they witness behavior that conflicts with this Code.

Zero Tolerance for Bullying and Harassment
Wire has zero tolerance for bullying, harassment, or intimidation of any member by any other member, in any Wire space, for any reason. This applies equally regardless of the seniority, tenure, identity, or relationship of the people involved. Shared gender, shared background, or being a fellow woman in this industry is never a justification for demeaning, excluding, or targeting another member — it is precisely the opposite of what Wire stands for.

Anti-Bullying and Anti-Harassment Policy
What We Mean by Bullying
Bullying is repeated or severe unwanted behavior intended to intimidate, demean, humiliate, isolate, or exclude another member. It can be verbal, written, digital, or in person, and it can come from one person or a group. A single sufficiently severe incident can also constitute bullying under this policy.

We want to be direct about something Wire has seen in our own community: bullying between women is still bullying. Being part of a community built by and for women does not exempt anyone from this standard, and it is never an excuse for cliquish exclusion, public shaming, coordinated “pile-ons,” or campaigns of gossip aimed at another member. We hold these incidents to the same standard, and the same consequences, as any other violation of this Code.

What We Mean by Harassment
Harassment is unwelcome conduct based on a person's race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, or any other protected characteristic, or conduct of a sexual nature that is unwelcome. It also includes conduct that a reasonable person would find intimidating, hostile, or abusive, even where no single protected characteristic is implicated.

Examples of Prohibited Conduct
This list is illustrative, not exhaustive:

• Insults, ridicule, name-calling, or demeaning comments, whether in person, in writing, or online.
• Spreading rumors or gossip intended to damage another member's reputation or standing in the community.
• Deliberately excluding, “freezing out,” or isolating a member from events, projects, conversations, or opportunities.
• Public shaming or humiliation of a member, including in Wire's online community, social media, or messaging channels.
• Coordinated or group harassment of a member, including pile-ons in comments, group chats, or forums.
• Unwelcome sexual advances, comments, or contact.
• Discriminatory remarks or jokes based on a protected characteristic.
• Threats, intimidation, or coercion of any kind.
• Repeated unwanted contact after being asked to stop.
• Sabotaging another member's professional reputation, work, or opportunities within the community.
• Retaliating against someone who reports a concern in good faith or who supports another member's report.

Reporting a Concern
Anyone who experiences or witnesses conduct that may violate this Code is encouraged to report it as soon as possible. Reports can be made to: jessica@wearewire.org

Foster Inclusion & Diversity — We are committed to building a more vibrant, just industry for all.

A community that claims to create room at the table for everyone has to mean it in practice, not just in principle. This Code of Conduct is how we hold ourselves to that standard.

Reports will be handled as confidentially as possible, shared only with those who need to know in order to investigate and resolve the matter. Wire will not tolerate retaliation of any kind against a member who reports a concern in good faith or who participates in an investigation.

Enforcement and Consequences
Wire takes every report seriously and will review and address concerns promptly. Consequences are determined based on the severity, pattern, and impact of the conduct, and may include one or more of the following:

• A verbal or written warning.
• Mandatory removal from an event, webinar, or online space for the remainder of that activity.
• Temporary suspension of community membership and access to Wire events, platforms, and benefits.
• Removal from any Wire volunteer, committee, chapter leadership, or board role.
• Permanent expulsion from the Wire community, including loss of membership, access to all Wire events and platforms, and any leadership or volunteer roles.

Members should understand plainly: bullying or harassment of another member — including bullying between women, and regardless of the relationship, seniority, or history between the people involved — can result in expulsion from Wire. Tenure, past contributions, and standing in the community do not exempt anyone from this policy.

Applicability and Acceptance
This Code of Conduct applies automatically to anyone accessing Wire's online platforms or social media pages, or attending any Wire in-person or virtual event — no separate signature or form is required. Participation in the Wire community means agreeing to abide by this Code, including its consequences for violations up to and including expulsion from the community.
